Our Capability Framework for Perinatal Mental Health Lived Experience (Peer) Workers
Lived Experience (Peer) work is a growing career pathway requiring more than lived experience alone to be effective. It also requires a minimum skill set and level of competence for practitioners to promote safety, quality, and sustainability.
We designed this capability framework for the purpose of clarity on the knowledge, skills and values required for a perinatal mental health lived experience (peer) worker.
Such a framework helps to promote consistent, high quality practice and supports the professional development and career progression pathway. Ultimately, it strengthens the presence of perinatal mental lived experience (peer) workforce across all healthcare settings.
